We all know how to choose a watermelon well. Before we buy them,
we usually tap them with our fingers to check if they are ripe, but how do you
choose a melon?
Markets and shops are full of melons, and their smell immediately
entices you to buy one and take it home. But how to choose the right, juicy and
delicious melon?
Smooth-skinned yellow melons, also known as "Pineapples," are generally believed to be sweeter and juicier than rough-skinned ones, which are believed to be "meatear."
Choose a
cantaloupe that has the correct spherical shape and is medium in size, neither
too big nor too small.
At the
same time, pay attention that its weight corresponds to the size. If the melon
is too large and light, then it is most likely an overripe fruit that will not
be juicy.
The bark
should be clean, without blemishes or dents. Melons that show big changes in
color usually do not taste good and are hard.
When you press it a little at the stem, you should smell the melon. A strong smell means it's overripe, and if you don't smell it, it means it's not ripe enough.
