A place like paradise. Snowy white pools, but
with warm highly mineralised water. Pamukale is a place that attracts many
tourists to the Turkish city of Denizli.
This was the place where the cotton was
cultivated, hence the name(pamuk=cotton), located on the Aegean Sea and is an
extremely important natural landmark of Turkey, but also of the world.
The temperature of the springs is between 35
and 100 degrees Celsius and for many centuries these thermal waters have a
beneficial effect on the psycho-physical condition of the people bathing in
them.
In addition to its breathtaking natural
features, Pamukale has numerous cultural and historical attractions. The
ancient city of Hierapolis, which played a significant role in the spread of
Christianity in Anatolia, was built on the thermal springs of Pamukale.
Not to miss is the ancient Roman amphitheater,
and some of the other sights to experience the spirit of ancient times are the
Temple of Apollo, the Necropolis, the Domitian Road and Gate, the Temple of
Pluto, Roman baths, and so on.
